Tipping the Dealer During a Poker Game

Poker facilities have grown over the past years. With the tremendous growth comes beginners who are eager to play poker. A lot of people play poker on the Internet in their homes.

By playing poker online, players do not have the opportunity to give tips to the dealer in the game. Working as a dealer in a poker table is not the most profitable job in the casino. In some cases, dealers will even earn smaller than the waitresses and they are dependent on the tips that generous customers will give them to supplement their salary.

Casinos will let the dealers keep what tips that they receive from their customers, although dealers are required to list all of their earnings for the state and federal tax bureaus. Live game gamblers usually tip dealers especially if they win the cash pot of about five chips based on the size of the money pot.

Some gamblers choose to give the tip to the dealer at the end of the game. Other players tip the dealer at the end of their game. This type of gambler will announce their plan before the start of the game. This strategy is usually disadvantageous to the dealer who can keep their own tips because the dealer may have dealt two or more to a single player but that player leaves the table when the dealer is at another gaming table or on lunch break.

Tournaments present a different setting. Players cannot tip the dealer during the game because the chips on the table have no value.

All of the participants have paid the entry cost for the game and casino sets how much of the registration cost goes to the cash pool and how much the casino earns. Since tipping the dealer cannot be made during the game, it must be done at the end of the tournament.

It is sad sometimes that most of the final table in the tournament does not leave any tip for the dealers and only about two to three players leave any tip at all. Dealer tipping may not be required but it is only right to show that you appreciate the equality and fairness that the dealers have shown during the game.

Some players do not know how much they must give the dealer. But players must base it on how much they have enjoyed their experience. Although a poker tournament can last for hours and the money that players receive is not that much, just calculate how much cash you have save by not wasting it on other games like slot machines.

It is only right that players acknowledge the services of the dealer especially if they have gotten a good one.
